when he proposed to her...

I wonder if this isn't how the Sun must feel
After a new Moon
When the Moon was completely lost to his sight
When not even a sliver of herself appeared
Maybe this is how happy the Sun becomes
When she returns to his sight again

And maybe our world is not as it appears at all
Maybe it's all about their public romance overhead

And maybe the Sun just can't help himself
That he gushes out his longing for the Moon
Twice a day - every day
Maybe our whole lives are scheduled around his
Bold pronouncements of love
Breaking his heart open again and again
At sunrise and sunset
When he first rises and then retires for the day
And the world's glorious splashes of color
Are all for the Moon
