April 20 at Paul Fiske’s home in Kula:
The men's gathering at Paul Fiske's
house in Kula was truly a beautiful sharing of hearts and
minds. Paul made a delicious feast of salmon, a gourmet rice
dish and organic Kula salad that we shared on his lanai while
the sun was setting. Afterwards, we made a huge bon fire outside
and the rest of the evening was filled with song, poetry,
stories, and meaningful sharings mostly about being in relationship.
Garth began by leading us in honoring of the spirits of the
six directions, and also shared a Japanese story about being
a gentle warrior. Windcloud led us in a beautiful African
chant that is sung to welcome someone into their village.
Later we passed around cards with different qualities written
on them, which led to discussions about various topics like
harmony, forgiveness, gratitude etc. Garth afterwards shared
a powerful Celtic story with a theme about loyalty. A few
men gave their advice about marriage, like Otis shared what
his uncle taught him that, "A man must always have the
last two words - Yes, Dear!!"
Towards the end of the evening we
got into a circle, arm in arm, and sang heartful songs like,
"Give Yourself to Love." This was my favorite part
of the evening along with what happened next. After the last
song, all the men lifted me into the air while lying on my back.
It was outrageous to be raised above the fence line where the
view opened up in all directions to a broad expanse of land,
ocean, sky and stars. Gradually I let myself totally relax and
be fully supported by my brothers, and by Spirit ultimately.
Everyone left with a bottle of "Mighty Buck's Male Solution."
The story behind this creation was that about six weeks prior
to the men's gathering I was shopping with Eleykaa in a women's
store with all kinds of potions and lotions. I thought, "Heh,
men need their own potions too!" We went right over to
Dragon's Den, the oriental herb store in Makawao. Fortunately
Matthew, the expert, was working, so I asked him about how to
make the real stuff - the original viagra. I left with an armful
of raw Chinese herbs that have been used for centuries for increasing
male virility. I bought organic vodka and let the herbs brew
in a jar until the gathering. So, we ended the evening with
a little night cap toast accompanied by a few jeers and laughs...Below
is the label I made for the tincture bottle.
This was a really incredible evening and I want to give a special
thanks to Paul, our amazing host, and to Garth, one of my oldest
and dearest friends, who together with Paul, skillfully masterminded
the wonderful flow of events.
Unfortunately, there were no photos taken but hopefully this
description gives you a taste of this memorable gathering.
